Colin Ryan, Partner Cycle Capital
Colin brings to Cycle Capital more than 20 years of experience in operational and executive positions in the industrial and clean technology sectors. A Mechanical Engineer by training, Colin spent the first part of his career managing major projects in the Petrochemical and Metals Processing sectors, working for a diverse client base including Shell, Irving Oil and Noranda-Falconbridge (now Xstrata) and focusing mainly on complex expansion and integration projects. In 2003, Colin invested in and joined the executive team of Cansolv Technologies (CTI), a Cleantech technology startup in the field of industrial air pollution control. During his tenure, he oversaw a fifteenfold increase in revenue and led the company’s expansion into Asian markets, founding a Chinese subsidiary in 2004. Cansolv Technologies was eventually acquired by Royal Dutch Shell in 2009.
Since leaving Cansolv Technologies, Colin has been an active angel investor, completing three investments in Canadian and Chinese Cleantech startups. He is a director of Oceanwide Inc., Effenco Development Inc. and the Ecomaris Foundation. He holds a bachelor in engineering from McGill University and an MBA from HEC Montreal.
